The NEBR is much different than most of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserves around the world. Most are contained areas managed by one or two groups or agencies. The Niagara Escarpment, however, is a long, thin strip crossing multiple municipal boundaries and is comprised of publicly (national, provincial and municipal), corporately and privately owned land.
In 2015, a committee was formed to establish a network of persons and groups along the Escarpment to better communicate and collaborate on issues all along the Biosphere Reserve. You can learn more about that process in the newsletter.
GREEN was one of the founding partners in the Network, so we’re proud to be able to share the newsletter with you.
Please note, the Network is not a regulatory body, but will be able to provide input from its partner members to those governmental or regulatory agencies responsible for the Biosphere Reserve’s care.
This is a great step forward for the future protection of the NEBR, bringing the assets of many varied groups together in focused collaboration.
Great work, NEBR Network!
